Folkmog and Anglemog at Ixworth
Instead of celebrating Christmas we have a post Christmas celebration.
As in previous years we returned to the Gamekeeper for our NTCL. This year Diana had asked the landlord to open up a little early as people often start arriving before normal opening time. Not only had he opened the pub early for us he had started a roaring log fire. We retired for lunch at about 12:30 and like good souls we stayed sat down until the end of the main course when we started making life a bit awkward to the very patient serving staff by running the raffle while the pudding was arriving. Just like other years lots of very generous people had brought prizes for the raffle. The raffle raised £243 including a brilliant impromptu auction run by Ian Young. Thanks are due to all who brought prizes and bought tickets. It is this raffle that means we do not charge an extra charge for being a member of FolkMog which is not the case with lots of other centres.
After pudding we commenced the interesting part of the proceedings, which, being as this is our thirtieth year, started with a few words from Ian Warner and Maurice Cook telling us tails of FolkMog past, at the end of which Maurice proposed a toast to future of Folkmog. It made me realise how far we have come in thirty years. From a small membership with meetings often smaller than ten people to the throng of us that was filling the room at the Gamekeeper.
We then moved on to the prizes for the year. Caroline Page had already won the trophy for the navigation test but had not been presented with glasses so we started with this and then moved on to the supporter of the year which was won by Alan and Anne Wimhurst for their help throughout the year. The Turner award was presented to Ray Mceniff for his outstanding work on his Morgan. Finally there was a special award for Ian Charity and Dylis Lloyd for there work in support of FolkMog in the previous year. It is always a pleasure to give out the prizes at the NTCL. The difficult things is choosing the
