The White Horse, Badingham complete with MorgansWhat a fabulous day Sunday 14th October was. The sun shone and seemed to be almost as warm as a summer’s day. It was at least a good deal warmer than most summer’s days this year. It was, indeed, just the kind of day that would encourage us to extract “Poppy” from the garage and go for a spin. Luckily we had somewhere to go as FolkMog were meeting in the White Horse, Badingham for lunch.

A lovely day among the MorganeersDiana was busy in the Save the Children Fund shop in the morning so I got ready and picked her up outside the shop at 11:30 a.m. and away we went. As ever Diana found some nice interesting roads to drive along. I am not sure if this is a natural skill of hers or whether there are just a lot of interesting roads to be found in Suffolk. Anyway we arrived at the pub by about 12:15 and there were already a stack of Morgans there. We parked ourselves on the end of the row, convinced that there would not be room for any more. We were, of course, wrong as another intrepid Morganeer managed to squeeze in his car. There seemed to be Morgans everywhere and a much bemused driver of an ordinary car was hard pressed to find a space. In the end I think that we were eighteen Morgans and a Triumph TR something I think brought by Roger Tatton’s son. All in all a splendid turn out.

just before tucking inIan and Dylis look like they have been banishedI am not sure why we called it a meeting in the pub because, as normal, most of the initial meeting was held outside. It was after all a beautiful day and there were cars to look at and old friends to talk to. I eventually cracked and went inside for a drink but walked outside with it as soon as it was bought. It really was such a lovely day. Eventually Ian Charity called us all in as they would really like to start serving lunch and to be truthful I did need that much urging as I was beginning to feel peckish. The roast beef was delicious, as was the following apple crumble. The company over lunch was, as usual very good. We all discovered a mutual love of Rugby Union and much discussion of the recent England successes was had as well as more local sides.

Morgans in the car parkAfter lunch I decided to go outside while everyone else was inside to take some pictures of the assembled Morgans without a stack of people. I was not alone as there were a group of smokers outside and in the end, having chatted for a while, I did not get back inside as, and I know I am getting boring on the subject, it was a lovely day.

Diana had to be back in time to close the shop in the afternoon so we had to leave a happy crew a little early but the run back to Aldeburgh was just as much fun as the run over to Badingham. Many thanks to Ian and Dylis for a splendidly organised meeting.
